Media Car Accident Attorney Discusses the First Thing to do After a Car Accident

Delaware County Car Accident Attorney Discusses the First Thing to do After a Car AccidentAs an experienced Media Car Accident Attorney I am often asked what the first thing one should do after getting into a car accident.  If you’ve been in an automobile accident in Pennsylvania, the first thing you want to do is obtain the name, address, phone number, and automobile insurance liability coverage for the individual that struck you. I’m going to assume that you are not the party at fault. What you want to do at that point in time is be able to contact that person and their insurance carrier in the event that you have sustained personal injuries. The other additional thing that you would like to do at the initial stage is to establish if there were any witnesses to the automobile accident. By that, you also have to secure their names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses if that’s possible.

At that point in time, you also would like to look for conditions of the area.  You will want to look at the lights if it’s an accident at an intersection, any pictures of the motor vehicles, and any other circumstances that may have contributed to the cause of the accident such as an obstruction of the roadway, something on the side of the road, or anything that you think may be a relevant factor to proving damages or causation of the accident.
