Delaware County Personal Injury Attorney Discusses Settling a Case
This legal question was provided by Avvo.com. You can view the original question here.
If I didn’t settle on the other party’s insurance yet, can I settle with my own insurance company?
As an experienced Delaware County Personal Injury Attorney, I often speak to clients in regards to this matter. It is not uncommon for an individual’s insurance company to take their time in evaluating an uninsured or underinsured motorist claim. I would advise your friend to continue to request updates from her counsel. She should also specifically request assurances that her claims are not time-barred, as you have indicated the accident was four years ago. However, she should be understanding of the realities of the process and the fact that the attorney cannot not always dictate the pace of a claim. If, however you friend feels her attorney is being evasive or unresponsive, there is nothing wrong with her seeking a second opinion from other counsel.
